Latest
Combined Search, Segment Sorting & Audit Trail
NewThe Search tab's Surnames and Places modes are now one combined search — enter a first name, surname, and/or place together (e.g. "Jones" + "Alabama") instead of switching tabs. The surname index on the left still works as before; clicking a surname just fills the Surname field.
NewKits can now be sorted by longest matching segment (cM) in addition to highest total cM — look for the "Longest seg." chip next to "Highest cM" in the kit list.
NewAdded an Audit Trail — a time-stamped log of research decisions (MRCA confirmations, kit links, status and side changes, imports, and exports) accessible from the "📋 Audit Trail" link in the stats bar. Entries can be filtered, exported to CSV, and are saved with your session and inside JSON backups.

Bug Fix Patch
FixFixed a bug where the DNA suffix custom prefix was being applied not just to the home person of a kit but also to any descendants added to the tree.
FixFixed a regression introduced in v4.0.2 where the first letter of a birth or death place was being cut off — for example, "Spartanburg, South Carolina" would show as "partanburg, South Carolina". This affected kits imported via GEDmatch paste after the FamilySearch-style ID support was added.

Multi-GEDCOM Import & Status Auto-Clear
NewYou can now import multiple GEDCOM files at once — select or drag and drop as many .ged files as you like and they'll all be merged in sequentially. A summary shows each file name and individual count when done.
NewImport status messages now auto-clear after a few seconds — short confirmations clear in 5 seconds, longer multi-file summaries stay up for 12 seconds so there's time to read them.

GEDmatch Trees with FamilySearch-Style Tree Numbers — Import Fixes
FixGEDmatch trees using FamilySearch-style index IDs (e.g. XXXX-XXX) now import correctly. Previously these trees were silently dropped due to the index format not being recognised.
FixParent links now resolve correctly for GEDmatch trees with FamilySearch-style IDs that start with a digit (e.g. 1ABC-DEF). These were previously being skipped, causing ancestors to not appear in the fan chart or pedigree.
FixWhen the same GEDmatch GEDCOM is linked to more than one person, each linked person now imports as their own separate kit with correctly recalculated generation numbers relative to their home person.
FixGEDmatch kit link import now correctly maps kit numbers to the right kit when the same GEDCOM ID is linked to multiple people. Previously only the first person's kit number was being stored.

Bug Fix Patch
FixFixed a bug where session data was not being written to IndexedDB on save, causing all data to be lost when the browser was closed.

TreeScope v4 — Complete Rebuild
A full redesign from the ground up with a new visual theme, major new analysis features, and a completely overhauled MRCA Finder. This version adds couple cluster detection, cross-platform kit linking, research status tracking, MRCA confirmation and notes, and a lot more.
NewMRCA confirmation — mark any result as a Verified MRCA with a research note. Verified results sort to the top and persist in your JSON backup across sessions.
NewMRCA dismiss — hide results that aren't legitimate. Dismissed results survive re-runs and can be restored at any time from a hidden section.
NewResearch status per kit — flag kits as Needs Review, In Progress, or Investigated. A colored dot appears on the kit row and the sidebar can be filtered by status.
NewCouple cluster detection — MRCA Finder now surfaces husband and wife pairs together when both appear across multiple trees, giving you a stronger signal than a single ancestor match.
NewCross-platform kit linking — link a GEDmatch match to their WikiTree, GEDCOM, or FTDNA tree. Linked kits combine their ancestor pools in MRCA analysis.
NewCollapsible import zone — collapse the import tiles once kits are loaded to give the workspace more breathing room. Your preference saves across sessions.
NewBack to MRCA results — a back button appears in the Kit Overview when you navigate there from an MRCA result, taking you straight back to where you were.
NewMRCA Matrix view — a visual grid showing all kit pair results at a glance. Only kits with at least one confirmed or partial match appear in the grid.
NewPhase assignment — mark kits as Maternal or Paternal and use phase scope to filter MRCA comparisons to same-side matches only.
NewManual DNA entry — enter cM, segment, X-DNA, and haplogroup data directly in the kit Overview when importing match metadata isn't available.
NewTree filter — when matches without trees are imported, a Tree filter chip appears in the sidebar to toggle between all kits, kits with trees, and no-tree placeholders.
NewJump to bottom button — a ↓ button sits alongside the existing ↑ jump-to-top button for faster navigation in long sessions.
ImprovedKit panel filters completely redesigned — Sort cycles A–Z / Z–A, Highest cM toggles independently, Source and Side each cycle in a single button. Much less clutter.
ImprovedMRCA results sort smarter — couple clusters float to the top, verified MRCAs sort above unverified within each section.
ImprovedMRCA CSV export now includes GEDmatch kit numbers, a Verified column, and a Research Note column.
ImprovedKit name display — text in [brackets] is visible inside TreeScope but stripped automatically from GEDCOM exports. Use brackets for personal notes in the kit name.
ImprovedNote dot now shows a preview snippet of the note text on hover rather than just a generic "Has notes" tooltip.
ImprovedComplete visual redesign with light/dark theme, improved typography, spacing, and color system throughout.
Fix[Unknown father] / [Unknown mother] placeholder ancestors no longer surface as MRCA results.
FixNo-match kits no longer appear as rows and columns in the MRCA Matrix grid.
FixMRCA CSV export now correctly shows GEDmatch kit numbers instead of internal IDs in the Kit ID columns.
